2018

Our town is situated on an idyllic island, but we are still intertwined with
complex concerns about our planet and at times the future can seem
daunting. The 8th instalment of Art in the Open presents a hopeful vision
for the future, while reexamining the past, and acknowledging present
unease. The participating artists are themselves part of a global network of cultural workers, continuing to make sense of the world around us.

As you enter into the unknown on August 25th at the onset of Art in the
Open, you will find projects through-out our community that speak to local lore and histories, loss and moving forward, environments both domestic and wild, and creative imaginings of past, present, and future. At the core of these works is a reminder that the unknown is full of possibility and that ultimately, the future is bright.
